The Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, has in a statement denied accusations by some religious persons on social media that it seeks to map out policies geared towards undermining the christian faith.
This is contained in a statement released by the ministry and signed by Mrs. Halima Yakubu the Chief Director of the ministry on behalf of the minister, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng.
According to the statement, some religious persons have taken to various WhatsApp platforms to circulate such untruth about the stakeholder consultation currently ongoing on the proposed National Policy on Religion which is being undertaken by the Ministry in partnership with UNDP.
The statement further admonishes the general public tod disregard such information since it's I'll informed and out of bad faith. It notes that the current stakeholder engagement seeks to enhance and encourage amongst diverse religions. The very goal of this project is to have ' an inclusive and tolerant religious environment for social cohesion and religious coexistence'. The statement added.
The statement further suggest that, there exist no comprehensive database on religious organizations in the country which is a challenge the policy seeks to overcome.
Infact, this process of registration should also, by law, be processed through the Registrar General's Department nevertheless, MCRA will expeditiously update its own database accordingly in response to these requests'.
The Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has therefore assured all stakeholders within the Christian faith to be assured that what's currently ongoing is a stakeholder engagement and hence nothing would be done to compromise their religious faith.
